Locally Informed Changes!
Our apologies for being so quiet lately. We’ve been hard at work on some big changes and we’d like to tell you all about them!
From the outset, Locally Informed has been about empowering and connecting communities by equiping journalists(our community editors) in new ways to independently report on local news and information.
It’s also been about developing a local news business model that doesn’t rely on advertising sales or monthly subscriptions.
Our goals haven’t changed, but the way we’re going about them has changed dramatically.
Here’s what we’ve done…

Locally Informed as a Platform
From here on out, you run the show!
We’ve realized that it’s not about us managing every community, but rather about enabling you to do just that.
No one’s better qualified than a passionate journalist, in their own community!
Going forward, we’ll give you all the tools, and you’ll go out and make it happen.
You report the news. You manage your community and the readers who contribute to it. You get the revenue generated by it.
For our part, we continue to build on and improve the software. We provide the online payment solutions and hosting.
Your local site becomes a turn key solution, where all you need to do is start building your community and reporting on it.
Our revenue is then tied into your own. We’ll charge a monthly fee to host the software and a modest percentage on each transaction, to cover both administration costs and the fees charged by the 3rd party credit card processing company.
If this email has sparked your interest, give it a try for 30 days at no cost.

Feedback

Here’s what Phil had to say after about a week of using the new platform… I am absolutely delighted with the number of ‘hits’ my stories are getting on northnews! More than I received previously. I think having a dedicated site for Northland news is steering people to it because they appear to know that this is the site where they can get get their news about Northland. Really thrilled. |
